The Tire Identification Number has the following characteristics:

• "DOT" indicates that the tire meets all federal standards.
• The first two characters after "DOT" indicate the plant code where the tire was manufactured.
• The last four numbers give the week and year the tire was produced. ("1202" indicates the twelfth week of 2002.)
• The remaining characters are for the manufacturer's use.

This information is used to contact consumers if a tire defect requires a recall.
